Ruth Madievsky Wins 2017 Kunitz Prize

The Editors of The American Poetry Review are happy to announce that Ruth Madievsky has been awarded the 2017 Stanley Kunitz Memorial Prize for her poem "Wormhole." We received over 700 entries this year and were honored to read so many excellent poems. The winning poem will be featured in the September/October 2017 issue.

Originally from Moldova, Ruth Madievsky is a poet, fiction writer, and essayist living in Los Angeles. Her debut poetry collection, Emergency Brake, was published by Tavern Books as their 2015 Wrolstad Contemporary Poetry Series selection.

The Stanley Kunitz Memorial Prize awards $1,000 and publication of the winning poem to a poet under 40 years of age in honor of the late Stanley Kunitz's dedication to mentoring poets.

Congratulations, Ruth!
