“I think of The American Poetry Review as one of the strongest literary forces of our time. APR is where I go to both discover new poets and rekindle my love with some of the foundational poets. There are times when reading an entire issue, cover to cover, has reminded me of why I love poetry. It is a cornerstone for those of us hungry for poetry that’s both masterful and urgent.” -- Ada Limón, U.S. Poet Laureate
Dear Friends,
We’re so grateful for the support that you have shown us and the poets we publish. We hope you will join us again now to keep The American Poetry Review going strong.
In 2024, we published six outstanding issues representing the work of 127 writers, including Sally Wen Mao, Nikki Wallschlaeger, David Kirby, John Murillo, Philip Metres, Ellen Bass, Felicia Zamora, and many more. We published the twenty-seventh volume in the APR/Honickman First Book Prize series: The Twenty-First Century by Jacob Eigen, selected by esteemed poet Roger Reeves. We also released eight new episodes of our podcast featuring engaging conversations with today’s most dynamic poets.
We believe that our mission to reach a worldwide audience with an eclectic and exciting array of poetry is as important now as it was when we began in 1972. The American Poetry Review remains a fully independent non-profit. Your individual contributions are more vital than ever in a consequential year and, as always, your donations pay poets.
In thanks for your contribution at the following levels, we are offering books by poets we’ve featured this year: Solutions for the Problem of Bodies in Space by Catherine Barnett (Graywolf, paperback, $17); Self Portrait of Icarus as a Country on Fire by Jason Schneiderman (Red Hen Press, paperback, $17); or the 2024 APR/Honickman First Book Prize Winner, The Twenty-First Century by Jacob Eigen, (APR, paperback, $16).
· For a gift of $500, you receive all three books
· for $250, you receive two
· for $100, you receive one book of your choice
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Scanlon
