Marianne Moore
Ichabod

“Conditions continually change. What is good

enough today may become obsolete tomorrow. One

of the attributes of the progressive educator is

a willingness to investigate.”

Without intending to be rude,

You smother him with platitude;

Curb your insistence—

When astigmatic Ichabod,

Attached to his outmoded rod,

Resists resistance.
